The Dept. of German Language and Literature was established in Gangneung National University in 1982 to teach students to have a worldview and international understanding. Therefore, from its very beginnings, the undergraduate curriculum has been focused on researching a comprehensive approach to language, literature, translation, culture, and civilization in social and historical backgrounds. We help students to focus on German studies, including theories of literature and translation, comparative literature, social history, comparative linguistics, and comparative cultural studies. We offer students to continue their studies from undergraduate to masters degree.
